Michael Good - National Director

Michael Good 4WEB

My name is Michael Good, married to Lois for the last 35 years and looking forward to the rest of our life together.  We have 4 adult children - Jonathan (married to Jessica and living in B.C. Canada, Amy (married to Kris and living in Auckland), Natalie and Phillip.  I came to faith in Christ at the age of 17 at a camp at Maungatoroto, after involvement in the Youth Group at Lincoln Road Bible Chapel.  I have a science degree and worked in new product research before moving into sales and marketing of scientific equipment.  Lois and I felt God’s call into full time ministry together, particularly with young people, as we had both been involved in a leadership role with youth at our home church of LRBC in Henderson, Auckland.  In 1997 we moved with our family to Faith Academy in Manila, Philippines, where we were Boarding Home Parents to some 65 high school students over 6 years.  On returning from the Philippines in 2004 I took up the role of Youth Pastor at LRBC for a period of 4 years where I was involved in setting up a supporting relationship with Henderson Intermediate School, worked with Waitakere Police Youth Aid in providing Anger Management Counselling for young offenders, as well as leading a very gifted group of young leaders who ran our Youth Group.  For the last 3 years Lois and I have been Administrators for “Headspace”, part of the Youth arm of Global Connections in Mission.  Headspace is a mission focused ‘gap year’ program for high school leavers who spend 10 weeks of the year on mission in Thailand.

Phil Hathaway - North Island Development Manager

Phil EC2

Having worked for BBNZ for a year I continue to be amazed and humbled by the dedication, energy and enthusiasm of the leaders in this organisation.  I look forward to seeing more units started in the Northland/ Auckland region as I move into this new role of Development Manager.

I live in west Auckland, and have been a ‘Westie’ all my life (sold the Holden a long time ago, though!).  I was brought up in a Christian home, (a ‘PK’ – pastor’s kid) and have been blessed to have a rich heritage of faith.

I have been married to Victoria for 18 years, and we have three awesome sons.

I became involved with ICONZ when my two oldest sons joined the local group.  I was impressed with what it had to offer boys, and was quick to take up a leadership role.  I am currently the senior leader at ICONZ Westgate (formally Northwest).

I’m a practical person, having worked in the building industry for 20years.  I love the outdoors, and enjoy a wide range of interests, including fishing, surfing, tennis, camping, and rugby.  I also love music, and am not too bad on the drums!

I have a heart for mission and have travelled several times to Kolkata, India.  I believe the more we look out and understand poverty in a global aspect, the more we can appreciate what we have in our country and in turn focus on the needs of people in our local communities.

I look forward to meeting and encouraging all the leadership teams in the region and seeing new leaders built up so together we can have a positive impact on as many boys as possible in this region.

Andre Powell - Upper South Island Development Manager

Andre EC2

Hi, I’m a recently married (to Hannah) 27 year old.  Originally from the Waikato, I moved to Canterbury at the end of 2010.
I have been actively involved with at risk Maori and Pacific Island youth in a Waikato based ministry called Waiora.
I have a varied work background ranging from Retail Management positions to Tutoring and Human Resource roles.
I have a real passion for youth work and seeing young men reach their potential and to see Christ become a cornerstone in their lives.
When I first heard of ICONZ I knew I wanted to be involved in some way.  Growing up with a single mother I know if I had something like ICONZ around when I was a kid it would have benefitted me immensely.
In turn I believe a lot of young boys in Christchurch really need positive influence and some good old fashioned outdoor distractions at this trying time.

Harley Ware - Southland Development Manager

Harley EC2

My name is Harley Ware and i have been married to my wife Rebekah for 6 years.  We have 2 lovely girls - Brianah, 4; and Tia, 2.

Although I was born in New Plymouth I am proud to call myself a Southlanderrrrrrr (go The Stags !!).

Previous to this role I have worked as a Community Youth worker and Youth Pastor at a local Baptist Church.

I enjoy snowboarding, waterskiing, playing rugby, going to the gym and pretty much the whole outdoors.

I am very excited about what God is doing in the lives of many men and young men in New Zealand.  I believe that if we can empower passionate men to reach a younger generation for God this nation will be hugely impacted.  I consider my role to be a privilege, and where else can you get paid to hunt stuff, make stuff, burn stuff and blow stuff up?
